Real excitement about “intelligent explorer”
Stefan van der Valk, Senior ICT Analyst, BAM Woningbouw
Only half of the excitement and enthusiasm of Stefan van der Valk, a qualified civil engineer and senior ICT analyst, was needed to convince the employees and the rest of the staff at BAM Woningbouw to manage their documents with Organice.
Early 2006 BAM Woningbouw stumbled across Organice in search of a new document management system. Senior ICT analyst, Stefan van der Valk was ‘really excited, from the very first moment of clapping my eyes on it. Not only did it seem easy to use with its logical explorer system, it was affordable as well.’
Stefan, who works from the head offices of BAM in Bunnik, adds: ‘There was a need to integrate the system fully in the Office environment. After all, everyone works with that nowadays. After looking at Microsoft SharePoint, we had some reservations concerning the navigation. For example, it was difficult to navigate in the web browser. This was going to be updated in the new version of SharePoint 2007, but we could not wait for that. Then I spotted an article about Organice. Transfer of documents and cutting and pasting within documents is so much simpler. New versions are not automatically created such as with SharePoint, but with Organice you have everything under control. And the internal viewer shows up everything in the document and the exact point at which you are in the project. You get a good overview at all times. So, it’s an intelligent explorer.’
A trials was started in October 2006 at the regional offices of BAM Woningbouw Weert, with over 60 members of staff. Today, Organice is being used in all projects by this office.
Organice helps BAM Woningbouw to strive for a ‘less-paper office’. "From now on, all incoming post will be scanned and document management is digitised. Also, building sites are linked up to Organice by an ADSL connection."
