Every year in the Netherlands, the digital contractor of the year is chosen during the Building & ICT exhibition. In this election, the Dutch Building Association, Bouwend Nederland, gives this price to one of her members that applied ICT in their organization in an innovative manner. The Cadac Group proposed Dura Vermeer Construction & Property for the election of digital contractor of 2008, because of the innovative way in which she implemented digital document management.
Dura Vermeer Construction & Property is one of the first contractors in the Netherlands that actually implemented an engineering document management solution to manage project documentation in a structured way. Dura Vermeer selected Microsoft SharePoint in combination with Organice from Cadac. Due to the implementation of SharePoint and Organice, the reliability of information has increased enormously. Dura Vermeer now knows for sure that everyone is working with the right and up-to-date information. Exchanging information has improved substantially and because information is centrally available, everyone is able to access information wherever they are.
During a project, a project file is build. Dura Vermeer is able monitor the project progress and they know up front which documents can be expected and when. The quality of the process is that high that even the Legal Department is using it.
Dura Vermeer has integrated Organice with their ERP system. From project start, Organice is fed with project data, project participants, starting documents, etc. In addition, the system is integrated with MS Office, MS Outlook and Bricscad. The total solution is deployed to end-users through Citrix. Incoming contracts and invoices are scanned and digitally archived. To be able to store invoices in the correct location, a connection is made with data from the financial system.
Dura Vermeer already used Organice in multiple projects with prominent AEC companies in the Netherlands. In these projects, Dura Vermeer managed the document management environment.
The final decision on the digital contractor of 2008 will be based by a jury upon the market potential of the ICT solution, the level of innovation, the user friendliness, the impact on other AEC companies, the price/performance ratio, and the contribution of the solution to the quality of the project or product. The election will take place on March 27 during the Building & ICT 2008 exhibition in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
