How do I add a SharePoint Site into the Site Navigation pane?
For each user, the Site Navigation pane can list the frequently used Sharepoint sites. Organice allows adding sites in several ways:
Drag & drop the site URL from Internet Explorer:
When you access SharePoint with Internet Explorer (IE) you will see the URL in the IE address bar. You can simply drag & drop this URL into the Site Navigation pane.
Use the 'Add Site' functionality:
Click the 'Add Site' icon in the Site Navigation pane. A window will be displayed where you can enter the URL of the SharePoint site you want to add.
Use the Site Browser:
Your SharePoint Administrator can provide a list of valid SharePoint sites, including meta-data and pre-defined views, that you are allowed to access. This list with the URL's of the sites can be added into the Organice configuration file. This will add the "Site Browser" button in the Organice Navigation pane. When the Site Browser is activated, it will show the list of available sites and the user can add a site to the Site Navigation pane by selecting this site in the list.
How do I remove a SharePoint site from the Site Navigation pane?
When you select a top level item in the Site Navigation, a "Detach Site" icon is shown in the Site Navigation pane. When you click this icon, the selected site will be removed from the tree.
What is a Site Browser?
The Site Browser extension in Organice makes it possible to provide users a predefined list of available sites that they are allowed to access. This list of sites is maintained by the SharePoint Administrator and contains SharePoint sites with appropriate metadata. When the Site Browser is selected, the list of available sites is presented in the Content Pane. A user can simply double-click the SharePoint site he wants to access, and this site is added to the Site Navigation pane.
Can I have SharePoint sites from multiple servers?
Organice supports as many SharePoint servers as desired, from anywhere in the world. If authentication is required the user only has to do this once. Organice will remember the user's authentication the next time.
Can I promote sub-sites to the top level of the tree-view?
Organice shows all sub-sites in the navigation tree. When a sub-site is selected the Site Navigation pane will show the "Promote Site" icon. When you click this icon, the selected site will be added to the top level of the navigation tree.
Why do I have to enter my credentials when switching to Web Mode?
When you switch to Web Mode, the Content and Detail panes are replaced by an Internet Explorer pane that requires the same credentials as a normal Internet Explorer session.
Why does Organice show entries that I do not have permission to?
Organice adheres to normal SharePoint behavior. Since SharePoint shows users also the entries that they do not have permission to, this is also the case in Organice. In addition, many users also prefer to see that this information exists, so that they can request access to this information, when they need it.
Why does Organice sometimes switch to Web Mode?
When the user selects a Site Item that Organice does not support, Organice automatically switches to Web Mode. This happens for the following Site items:
- Discussion Boards;
- Surveys.
